There were eight by-elections this week.
Conservatives held a seat in Dover and in Thanet and gained a seat from an Independent, who was originally elected as Labour, in Leicester. Labour held a seat in Wirral and in Rhondda Cynon Taff. Liberal Democrats held a seat in Camden. The Green Party held a seat in Spelthorne and gained a seat in North Somerset from Liberal Democrats.
