Conservatives gained a seat from Labour in Daventry and held seats in South Ribble, West Lindsey, Wiltshire and Powys. Labour held seats in Devon and Flintshire. Liberal Democrats gained a seat from an Independent in Powys (councillor causing the by-election was originally elected as a Conservative but defected to become an Independent).
