Liberal Democrats held a seat in Eastleigh and gained a seat in Wealden from Conservatives, as well as another seat in Somerset West and Taunton from an Independent.
There were nine local government by-elections this week. Conservatives gained four seats from the SNP; three seats in Aberdeenshire and one seat in Moray. Labour gained one seat from the Conservatives in Blackpool and held two seats; one seat each in Bracknell Forest and Inverclyde.R
