There were thirteen local government by-elections this week.
Conservatives gained four seats; three seats from Labour (in Denbighshire, Monmouthshire, and South Ribble), one seat from an independent (in Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole), and held two seats (in East Lindsey and New Forest).
Labour held three seats in Calderdale, Crawley, and Middlesbrough.
Liberal Democrats gained one seat from Conservatives in Surrey Heath, and held two seats in Gateshead and South Cambridgeshire.
An independent gained a seat from Plaid Cymru in Anglesey.
