Local Government By-Election Results

There were twelve by-elections this week.

Congratulations go to Cllr Philippa Ann James of Hambleton District Council, Cllr Nicholas Wiseman of West Suffolk District Council, Cllr Jamie Hartshorn of Nuneaton and Bedworth Borough Council and Cllr Derrick Huckfield of Newcastle-under-Lyme Borough Council for their successes in yesterday's by-elections.

Conservatives held seats in Hambleton and West Suffolk, and gained seats from Labour in Nuneaton & Bedworth and Newcastle Under Lyme.

Labour held seats in Basildon and Halton, and gained seats from Independents (who were both originally elected as Labour) in Lancaster and Wandsworth, and a further two from Independents in Allerdale and Wigan.

Liberal Democrats held a seat in Wirral. The Tunbridge Wells Alliance gained a seat from Conservatives in Tunbridge Wells

Labour gained one seat from a Liberal Democrat (originally elected as Labour) in Greenwich.

Reform gained one seat from Labour in Swale.
