There were six by-elections this week.
The Conservative Party held a seat in Rugby and gained a seat from an Independent (originally elected as a Conservative) in Swindon. The Liberal Democrats held a seat in Somerset West & Taunton and gained a seat from Labour in Chichester.
Independents held a seat in North Lanarkshire and in Gwynedd, a candidate with no description gained a seat from Independent.
