This week we launched our new From Cllr to MP series with two familiar faces for many in the CCA, when we were joined by Scott Benton MP, Member of Parliament for Blackpool South, and Ruislip, Northwood and Pinner MP, David Simmonds CBE, both of whom had served as CCA Board Members during their time in local government.
As part of the series, we are excited to be welcoming a number of the 2019 Parliamentary intake, who are either still or were councillors at the time of their election in December, to talk to CCA Members. We'll be exploring their experiences in local government and how these have helped to shape their work in Parliament since.
It was great to catch-up with both Scott and David, as well as hearing about their latest work in Westminster. As part of the wide-ranging discussions, Members were also able to hear about how their experiences in local government have helped in getting selected and in their work in Parliament.
We’re continuing to reach out to MPs in the 2019 intake, so please do check the Events page for the latest sessions in the programme.
